The Lucerne School of Design, Film and Art Library is open to the public. It is located at Nylsuisseplatz 1 (Viscosistadt) in Emmenbrücke, on the ground floor.

Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00
Members of HSLU – Design, Film and Art have access to the library outside opening hours with the HSLU card and can use the self-loan facility.

Registration and Borrowing

Library users can access the stock of 500 libraries across Switzerland through the research gateway swisscovery RZS – HSLU. All they need is a library card.

To be able to borrow books and other media through the system, library users need to register on registration.slsp.ch/. For data security reasons, all users must do this personally and individually. Find out how to register here.

Lending Period and Extensions

Unless there has been a reservation by other users in the meantime, the lending period for all borrowed media is automatically extended by four weeks until the maximum lending period of 168 days has been reached.

Copying, printing, scanning

Physical HSLU card as copy card

Your physical HSLU card serves as a copy card. You need this to print out print jobs, print  from a flash drive, to copy or to scan.

Top up/withdraw credit to print or copy

A credit balance in your PaperCut account is required to carry out print and copy jobs. Instructions on how to ‘top up/withdraw credit’ can be found in the Self-Service Portal (HSLU login). The Schools of the HSLU cannot top up or withdraw credit on your behalf!

Printing from a flash drive

The document must be saved as a PDF or JPEG file. To do this, please select «Gerätezugriff» on the printer after scanning your physical HSLU card.

Scanning with the multifunction device

To scan you need your own physical HSLU card. You may save your scan on a flash drive or send it to yourself via email.

Courier Service

The SLSP Courier connects all SLSP libraries across the country that offer the service. The SLSP Courier delivers any ordered medium to your preferred library (for CHF 6) or directly to your house (for CHF 12) within 48 hours. A return fee is already included in this price. However, the medium must be returned in the library where it has been picked up.

The Central Swiss courier between the Lucerne-based libraries (Central and University Library ZHB, University of Lucerne UNILU and University of Teacher Education Lucerne PHLU, Pedagogical Media Centre PMZ and all libraries of the HSLU) continues to be available free of charge.

It is the library user’s responsibility to return any borrowed items within the lending period. Not having received any due date reminders or recalls (by mail or email) is not accepted as a reasonable excuse for late returns.
