Stay cutting-edge in what you teach
Students expect their lecturers to be at the cutting edge in terms of research or professional practice. Of course this has always been a requirement that lecturers have had to fulfil. With AACSB it has become more outcome based.
AACSB's standards demand state-of-the-art outcomes in either research or consultancy services that are related to the filed of teaching of the respective lecturer. The Lucerne School of Business has always had a special focus on applied research and teaching and collaborates with numerous partners from the business world on research and consulting projects, some of which are government or foundation-fund.
Compared to earlier versions, the current AACSB standards acknowledge applied research more fully. Thanks to this development, AACSB accreditation, though still a considerable challenge, is more in line with the research programme as it has developed over the last 45 years at the School. Lecturers with little experience in research and publishing are being assisted to enter this field with generous supplementary financing, a co-authorship programme with more experienced researchers, and an open-access publishing project with partner universitites.
The number of publications produced by Lucerne School of Business lecturers have significantly increased since the AACSB mission-based requirements were put in place in the research field. Almost all lecturers are now involved. As a result, the Lucerne School of Business and its faculty are having a greater impact on various research communities, including that related to the teaching of Business itself.
