Activities

WSP Website: Support and development of students and customers in English (and French)

The business languages website supports our students as well as any other interested third parties in their endeavours to master English or French. It offers additional diversified language input (grammar, pronunciation, etc.) as well as a blog on various topical language issues of interest.

Internal courses for staff development: Use It Or Lose It / Friday Flashes / Academic Writing (E-Team)

The English team offers various conversation courses to help internal staff develop their language skills further. In the courses we provide the participants with topical economic, political or business issues and discuss them thoroughly. By exercising and enhancing their language skills we help our colleagues to keep their abilities up-to-date.

Assessments and Coaching: LUASA Faculty Members

Some staff members of the LUASA need to occasionally know whether their English skills are adequate for their specific needs (e.g. conference presentations, lecturing, academic writing, etc.). We assess them based on various input (written, oral, etc.) and provide them with advice on possible further steps to be taken afterwards. If necessary and welcomed, we also offer tailor-made individual coaching.

A Heuristic Case Study: Teaching Business Presentation Skills

The article seeks to inform the practice and theory of teaching English presentation skills in tertiary education. A functional model and a set of good practice guidelines are found and discussed. The findings can be extended to both a wider array of corporate cultures and a wider array of business skills, enabling students to deal with intercultural variability in a broad range of business settings.
