The Diversity Index of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts is an independent instrument to assess the diversity among the workforces of large Swiss companies. The Diversity Index - itself the result of a research cooperation between the science community, the Swiss Federation and the economy - was launched in 2013.
Swiss companies can assess their diversity situation and benchmark themselves against other companies via online survey. The main goal of the Diversity Index is to measure the heterogeneity of a workforce and to numerically represent the data gathered in a generally more qualitative context. Our approach to diversity is holistic in nature. The diversity dimensions “old age”, “gender”, “nationality”, “religion” and “health and impairment”, as well as the entrenchment of the topic in the organisational structure of the company are all considered in the Diversity Index. Each of these individual dimensions can thus be measured and interpreted, as can overall heterogeneity of large Swiss enterprises.
Here are the results and the top five ranked companies of the 4th Diversity Index of 2018.
