Applied Data Science - on November 27 & 28 2021, our students tackled exciting challenges with challenge owners, data community members, data scientists and ideators.
Below you will find a list of the challenges of the Sports Hackdays.
DATASPORT // Create a betting system for long-distance runners to compete against the clock. To estimate the times to beat, an algorithm for predicting the finish times of the races must be developed based on models from previous races.
SHORTTRACK FÖRDERVEREIN / DARTFISH // Calculate the odds of winning for a betting service based on the skaters’ current position and speed.
FORCE8 & SWISSSKI // Predict performance based on a subjective assessment of strain and regeneration data from swissski athletes.
SWISSSKI // Understand the critical aspects of downhill skiing and apply them to optimal course setting.
VORN // Understand competitors’ breathing pattern during a biathlon and discover ways to visualize them for spectators.
VORN // Create options for visualizing athletes’ exertion dynamically by using a battery icon.
DATA HOUSE & WATSON // Build an interactive analysis tool for publicly available data on football.
WSO WILLIS SPORTS ORGANIZATION // Build a dashboard for identifying athletes with similar profiles by considering the features of their profile, such as combination data and physical characteristics such as height, weight, etc.
WOMEN IN HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORT // Raise awareness for the challenges that women face in elite sports by means of storytelling infographics and interactive data visualizations geared for a general audience.
