Focus on the city of Lucerne
The current edition of the event is dedicated to “participation” and has the name: Shape my City. In the future, the city of Lucerne is more and more likely to face some major changes and challenges brought on by population growth, urbanization, individualization, climate change, and greening, among others. To meet the challenges of these megatrends, Lucerne is rethinking the relationships among the urban, suburban and rural areas, in particular with a view to strengthening neighbourhoods and the role of the digital transformation.
At the Open Data Hackdays, we will address these issues jointly and tackle questions on how to bring about this transformation and tap into the potential of data so that the ideas on these topics can unfold.
Our third and fourth semester students in the Master of Science in Applied Information and Data Science program at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts will work with Opendata.ch to organise and develop data challenges on a range of issues concerning the city of Lucerne. The other participants include various neighborhood associations of the city of Lucerne, the Forum Luzern 60+, and the public utilities company EWL, which will support the challenges and make their data available. Together with our partners, you and your team will develop solutions for the current challenges facing the city and present them to the audience at the end of the event. Challenges.
Participation and community
Everyone is invited to contribute his or her ideas and insights to the Hackdays. Prior knowledge of programming is explicitly not a requirement. We also hope there will be talented people to enrich the hackathon with their sense for design and their creative, analytical and social skills.
The event is free of charge. We offer an inspiring location that features showers and sleeping facilities for night owls and early risers. There will also be a balanced range of food and drinks. Don’t miss this opportunity to join a large team of motivated hackers and to experience an exciting hackathon. Further information.
