Navigating in turbulent times of transformations and dwindling certainties requires a creative attitude towards divergent positions and attempts for orientation.
In this monthly series of online lectures, we invite inspiring guest speakers to take a stand, share their positions and explore with us potential contributions from the arts and design towards sustainable development.
During the semester, every first Thursday of the month.
Open to PhD students from the HSLU and the NID and all interested guests.
Programme:
Shashank Mehta «Sustainability: Context and Design» (Online Lecture)
Thursday, 6 April 2023
12.00 - 13.15 (CET)
3.30 - 4.45 pm (IST)
Sustainable design in the context of India places greater emphasis on the well-being of human life, both to those engaged in the making of the product and to the users. With the major emphasis placed on traditional society, the role and responsibility of the designer assumes greater significance. Generating new entrepreneurial and employment opportunities, utilizing existing skills and resources, becomes an important criterion in determining sustainability.
