Andreas is a design researcher, educator and consultant working at the intersection of academia and applied design research. He joined HSLU in March 2022 to co-lead the MA Eco Social Design together with Karin Fink.
Andreas studied design in Cologne (Köln International School of Design) and New York (Parsons/The New School) and holds a PhD from Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). As a research associate at the Chair of Design Research at UdK (2012 to 2018), he was responsible for several, EU-funded research projects (FP7 & H2020).
From 2018 to 2021, he headed the chair of design studies and co-directed the MA program Transformation Design as visiting professor at Braunschweig University of the Arts / HBK. Prior to that, Andreas served as lead for the research group "Inequality and digital sovereignty" at the Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society, where he continues his engagement as an associated researcher with a focus on civil society and common-good perspectives on digitalization processes.
Andreas helped initiate, inform and design change processes in a variety of projects, and collaborated with stakeholders from academia and civil society as well as from industry and the public sector (e.g. United Nations Development Program, Bank für Sozialwirtschaft, Instagram, WhatsApp, GIZ, Tagesspiegel and ZDF).
