Christof Steinmann studied audiovisual arts at the Rietveld Academy Amsterdam. After further training and internships in acoustics, scenography, max, physical computing, 3D-animation and video editing, he completed studies in composition for film, theatre and media at the Zurich University of the Arts with an MA in composition and theory.
His work includes installations, photography, sound, music for dance, video, radio play and theatre, as well as records and concerts with electronic music. He took part in the electronic music label collective Spezialmaterial. Further more he worked as a designer for infographics and multimedia content for newspapers.
Since 2009 he focuses on sound design for animation, fiction and documentary films. He lives and works in Zurich, is an associate of Magnetix film sound studios and teaches sounddesign at the three departments of art, animation and camera arts at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU).
