Modultype: elective module
Modul ID: DK.BA_+FO_3DMOD.22
ECTS: 3.

Competences: Digitality, Material & Practice

Duration/Contact study
4. – 15. September 2023

Lecture(s): Fabio Quaggiotto

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Students learn how to use professional 3D software.
They know important technical terms, appropriate workflows depending on the source files and modelling methods (nurbs, polygon, volume, Boolean modelling and digital sculpting).

CONTENT

3D modelling is ubiquitous in digital media, and we often encounter this process unconsciously in everyday life. The range of applications is huge: films, games, apps, architecture, jewellery design, medicine, advertising etc.
The tools for 3D modelling have become more affordable in recent years, but above all more intuitive. However, users still have to make their own design decisions and work processes.
The module provides an overview of available technologies, tools and workflows. The knowledge imparted is tested and implemented by the students in practical exercises and further consolidated on the basis of their own projects alone or in small groups.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Module in German

ASSESSED ASSIGNMENT(S)

Prerequisite is a minimum of 80% attendance and active participation, as well as the implementation of an own project and project presentation at the end of the module.

GRADING OF ASSESSED ASSIGNMENT(S)

1. knowledge of model types
2. knowledge of technical vocabulary
3. sensitisation for different application possibilities
4. workflow-oriented thinking
5. comparison of reference images and final result

RECORD

The students have become familiar with the use of a professional 3D software. They know important basic terms and tools and can approach their projects methodically.
