General Admission Requirements
The Bachelor in Fine Arts and Art Education and the Bachelor in Film are taught in German. Knowledge of German adequate to this level of study is mandatory. A good knowledge of English is also advantageous, since international lecturers teach parts of the course.
The registration fee of CHF 125.-- will become due with the submission of your portfolio. Please make this one-off payment when you register or, at the very latest, before you hand in your portfolio. Make sure you keep the receipt we send you. Your portfolio will be accepted ONLY if you can show this receipt of payment.
It is possible to register for TWO different Bachelor courses. If you wish to do so, you must complete the online registration process in full, TWICE, and hand in separately for each course a portfolio and anything else requested.
Admission Requirements: Fine Arts and Art & Design Education and Film
The following qualifications are required:
Applicants must have completed a secondary education in Switzerland or elsewhere and have gained a vocational baccalaureate, a standard baccalaureate or an equivalent qualification; or they must be able to demonstrate equivalent aptitude, e.g. past professional experience or vocational training in a design or arts field.
We also recommend that all applicants first take a one-year Foundation Course or complete a one-year work placement in a relevant industry.
In exceptional cases – for example, if there is evidence of an extraordinary artistic talent – we may be able to waive the usual admissions requirements. Applicants must then provide proof of their previous education and/or training. Further information on admission requirements can be obtained from the respective department.
Applicants to the Fine Arts and Art & Design Education and Film degree programmes must also pass an entrance examination consisting of creative set tasks.
The admissions procedure for the Bachelor in Film is divided into two parts. After registering (before the deadline!), applicants submit their documents, a portfolio and a work assignment realised on a set theme. In the event of a positive decision, they are invited to attend an interview.
The admissions procedure for the Bachelor in Fine Arts and Art Education consists of a 24-hour Open Day, which begins on 6 April, 2020 at 17 o'clock, and lasts until 7 April, also 17 o'clock. Details will be sent to all applicants who register in good time (before the deadline!).
If the date of the admission day does not fit you, we would like to invite you to an individual work presentation.
Decisions on the outcome of the admission procedure are sent out by email. We therefore require a valid email address from each applicant.
