1st SEMESTER
What specific characteristics distinguish precious metals, iron and steel, porcelain and plastics? How are they manufactured? How can they be processed and how best used? In the first semester, the starting point for design work is materials. The Material Basics module investigates applications and techniques, exploring innovative uses for materials. Students broaden their aesthetic, technical and haptic pool of experience, honing their skills for the projects that follow. In addition, they acquire expertise in technical drawing and model-building.
Lecturers include Claudia Stebler, Kurt Züllig, Mundy Nussbauer, Estelle Gassmann, Sybille Meier, Christof Sigerist, Christian Spiess, Gabi Veit
2nd SEMESTER
If you want to proceed from an idea (A) to a goal (B), you might appreciate the value of a creative detour (from A via C to B). Students are continually making decisions and so developing their own ideas. In the ACB-1 module in the second semester and ACB-2 in the fourth, they conduct experiments that are both open-ended and results-oriented, thus following the tradition of workshop-based design.
Lecturers include Denise Reytan, Margrit Linder, Martin Huwiler, Kiko Gianocca, Nicole Benz, Christoph Zellweger
3rd SEMESTER
The “Passages” modules are about everyday rites of passage, linking them concretely to the specialisation in XS Jewellery. They focus on Value & Significance (Passages-1) and Body & Context (Passages-2).
Lecturers include Peter Bauhuis, Ilona Schwippel, Gabi Veit
4th SEMESTER

5th SEMESTER
The fifth semester stands under the motto XS PERSPECTIVES: students explore their creative limits, define their fields of activity, and determine which areas of creative competence are relevant for their needs. In varying teams, they develop viable conceptual approaches and design ideas, taking into account the social relevance, poetic potential, statement, function, and technical and economic feasibility of their designs in the context of changing needs and markets.
6th SEMESTER
In the final semester, students focus on a self-chosen topic that challenges their abilities and ambitions. They conduct independent, methodical research, setting themselves practical, artistic and creative goals based on solid theoretical foundations. The students complete and manage their BACHELOR’S PROJECT on their own and, at the conclusion of their studies, demonstrate their practical and creative skills, dramaturgically planned and orchestrated, to a jury and public audience.
Mentors include Christoph Zellweger, Ilona Schwippel, Martin Huwiler, Kiko Gianocca, Nicole Benz.
