Hearing aids nowadays are designed by the industry to be as discreet as possible, and as a result have become barely noticeable.
In this product study Sophie Mia Willener designs “visually loud” hearing aids, with the aim of making them more conspicuous and to endow them with their own formal autonomy.
The products she aestheticises are formally derived from 19th-century ear trumpets, revitalising them as eye-catchers and proud accessories.
Using various add-ons, the hearing aid becomes an item of listening jewellery for the self-assured wearer.
