Digitalisation, post-digitalisation and a demographic shift all define the ongoing transformation of the working world. Not only does this impact the jobs market, it also influences what kinds of skills workers will likely need in the future and transforms job titles and positions. German science association Stifteverband (2017) predicts a significant shortage of experts in the immediate future, particularly in the area of data visualisation. The trends that are data, creative coding, VR/MR, experience and storytelling are also evident in conferences and within specialist communities. However, investigative research to address current issues is also of increasing relevance for society at large. Data Design and Art, the first Bachelor of Arts of in the field of visualising data-based information in Switzerland, is an answer to these developments.
