Admission and Application
The study program targets individuals with a general qualification for university entrance (Matura) and/or a creative pre-course degree (Vorkurs) or equivalent (foreign) degree, or recognized professional experience that matches Matura-level.
For enrolling, foundational experience and basic knowledge of image making, photography, design, digital media and software as well as proficient German and English language skills are required. Furthermore, future students need to bring strong creative and analytical talents and the willpower to nurture their own creative and intellectual capacities.
Principal prerequisites for successful application are the candidates’ broad interest in their surrounding world and in peoples’ lives and a general awareness for various problem contexts in present society. In particular open-minded applicants with a curiosity for discoveries beyond their own assumptions, ambitious future visual media professionals, will flourish in the Camera Arts study program.
The university assesses applications on formal requirements.
The admission committee evaluates candidates on their level of creative talent and practical experience, their intellectual capacities as well as their personal ambitions.
The application procedure runs from February till May:
1. Application deadline: mid-February
2. Assessment of formal requirements: February
3. Submission of application dossier, including various given design and textual assignments: March
4. Application interview: April
5. Admission to the program; Acceptance of the university place: May
6. Study start: Early September

Application Dossier
The dossier submitted online includes a cv, diplomas, motivation letter, portfolio and various given visual and textual assignments in German and English language.
The submitted portfolio with independently created works can include: self-initiated and commissioned works and commercial projects, study assignments of pre-course education (Vorkurs) or Matura education. This can contain photography (series), drawings, graphic design, visualizations, essays and text-based work.
