In first year everything revolves around how pictures are read. The students learn how script and picture complement and react to each other. They realize that daily drawing as well as experiments with different printing techniques lead to completely new visual translations. We call it visual exploration, writing in pictures. One could say that in the first two terms the repertoire of the possibilities of visual expression is radically broadened.
In second year projects become more specific. We design posters, publications, adaptations for screens. Now it is more about implementing what you have learned, how you tell stories and how they are perceived in different media. And furthermore it is about you getting to know your own skills and interests better.
In third year the students explore their own potential and limitations. They examine the ways in which language forms content. They practice the interaction between text and illustration in book and visual reportage. It is the year of individual specialisation.
The third year finishes with the Bachelor Thesis, a first work of self-orientation and self-definition as author for the outside world.
