In this course, lecturers, doctoral students and researchers will receive an introduction to the basics of data visualization and to the HSLU's Smart Region Lab and its tools for visualizing spatial data. Based on three pilot projects around demographic distributions, building and energy data as well as the movement patterns of tourists, the course will reveal the potential of the Smart Region Lab for the handling of Big Data. Subsequently, the participants will independently work with the data using interactive data tables and have the opportunity to work on their own research questions. The goal of the workshop is to make this new technology for the visualization and manipulation of Big Data accessible to lecturers, doctoral students and researchers and to demonstrate its benefits for their own research projects.
