Forschungskurs – Getting published in academic journals

Publishing papers has become a key element of academic work. This course offers practical guidance for getting published in peer-reviewed journals.

In der Übersicht

This course is for PhD students and researchers who are keen on having their work published in academic journals. It covers the following topics:
• Targeting the right journals
• Basics of original storytelling
• The art of writing a research article introduction
• Dealing with peer-reviews and reviewers
• Getting your paper accepted

Mehr Informationen

The course consists of one full- and two half-day seminars that cover theories, and encompass panel discussions, hands-on exercises, and individual work. Personal coaching sessions are also available and tailored to the participants’ needs: The instructor will read the participant’s revised manuscript and provide suggestions for improvements during the face-to-face coaching.

Bemerkungen

Participants are expected to send a manuscript of their work (approximately 6,000 words) or an extended abstract (about 2,000 words) to the course instructor (thaothi.vu@hslu.ch) one week before the start of the course. The extended abstract should include an introduction, a brief description of the theoretical frameworks and methodology as well as any key findings (if available). The participants will have the opportunity to improve their manuscript during the course.
