Effective Communication Coherent and cohesive communication: The key to making yourself understood

Time is money – success in today’s business contexts depends on being able to bring your message across concisely.

Not only expectations and background knowledge of your target group, but also genre, register, style and structure of your communications influence the comprehensibility of texts, presentations and negotiations. Non-native speakers tend to turn to word-by-word translations when it comes to English – unfortunately, translated language often does not flow, is awkward and makes immediate comprehension difficult. We help you to recognize your needs in English business communication, adapted to the field you are in – your success is our satisfaction.

Text Revision: Editing of various texts for research or institutional purposes

We edit various text types for correctness, clarity and conciseness – writing a good text in English is a challenge, especially for non-native speakers not being used to the expectations of an international audience. We help staff members of the LUASA and interested customers to achieve their goals in international settings such as sales or conference presentations, submissions of research papers or business tenders, letters of understanding, etc.

Article: “The Linguistic Evocation of Emotionality and Rationality”

Contributing to a larger interdisciplinary research project measuring the impact of communicative strategies to market sustainable tourism products, we analysed the data focusing on systematic differences in the respondents’ reaction by language-community as well as by cultural background. Our findings suggest that most global marketing campaigns do not make use of their full potential due to lacking cultural adaptation.

Online Communication: Editing webtexts and glossaries

Online text must be succinct in order to capture readers’ attention, doing so in a Swiss context offers additional challenges. Translations are not mere mechanical exercises, but rather a consideration of cultural contexts, understandings, and other non-linguistic aspects. With the proliferation of English globally as the lingua franca of the internet, effective webtext cannot be ignored.

KTI Project: Coaching in empirical qualitative research

Quantitative questionnaires and qualitative interview guides are highly complex instruments. The simpler and straight forward a questionnaire looks, the more thought and skills were needed to develop it. We help gather valid scientific data by coaching questionnaire and interview guide writing as well as training colleagues in qualitative interviewing techniques.
