Debussy as a pianist

Roy Howat, Keyboard Research Fellow at the Royal Academy of Music and Senior Research Fellow at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, is internationally known as concert pianist and scholar. A former student of Vlado Perlemuter, Roy Howat is author of two seminal books, Debussy in proportion and The Art of French piano music, as well as one of the founding editors of the Parisbased Complete Debussy Edition, for which he edited most of Debussy’s solo piano music. Among his other editions are a Dover critical edition of Emmanuel Chabrier’s piano music and an acclaimed series for Peters Edition of Fauré’s piano and chamber music, along with Fauré’s complete songs which Roy Howat is co-editing with Emily Kilpatrick. He is currently editing Chopin’s Études for the Peters Edition Complete Chopin.
