Learning Objectives
The participants of the module will create experiments with VR drawing tools, remote collaboration software and Unity in interdisciplinary teams and get to know the spherical, frameless 3D world. Through this approach, students will reflect on conventional narrative forms, broaden their horizons with new spatial design possibilities, collaborate from a distance and gain insight into new programs such as Gravity Sketch, Quill, Blender and the game engine Unity.
Content
In the first part, students are immersed in virtual reality and during classroom time will receive introductions to new narrative methods, design software and Unity.
In the second part we explore the current state of virtual reality remote collaboration tools via distance learning. Various immersive experiments will be created simultaneously in interdisciplinary groups. Therefore, students will have the choice to create either a design or animation project, a spatial painting or a simple interactive application. It is important to create as much work as possible and to learn quickly from it. The experiments will be presented in the group discussion at regular intervals so that we can all learn from the experience.
In the third part, the groups work on the projects with partly supervised self-study time. Their aim is to present their work at the IDA exhibition. There will also be guest lectures by representatives from the VR industry.
