By Maria is revolutionizing the design, production, and sale of footwear on three levels.
Firstly, by using a new 3D online tool, footwear designers can have their designs produced in short, high-quality, hand-crafted runs. Secondly, consumers can acquire bespoke designer footwear that addresses the specific needs of their feet at a price that is transparent. Finally, Columbian shoemakers receive a greater portion of the selling price, which enables them to improve living standards for themselves and their families.
The project also intends to fund the training and equipping of these self-employed footwear makers, thereby empowering them to improve their own lives.
The goals of this study are as follows:
1) Establish a holistic solution by connecting principal stakeholders (designers, final customers, and shoemakers) with each other and with secondary stakeholders (material suppliers, logistics suppliers, government institutions in Colombia, private institutions in Switzerland). Hence sustainability has to be associated with the entire supply chain and all secondary stakeholders.
2) Evaluate the sustainability and effectiveness of the By Maria supply chain based on the integration and collaboration of principal stakeholders within the footwear industry and analyze the roles played by other parties with regard to supply chain integration and collaboration in order to understand how innovation can promote sustainability within supply chains.
