Integral Intelligent & Efficient Energy Systems
I am pleased about your interest in our activities. The CC IIEE (Center of Competence for Integral, Intelligent and Efficient Energy Systems) has a long tradition. Since the beginning of our activities, the efficient use of energy has always been a basic concern. In search of the "3 liters car", the activities at the CC date from 1990 when the strict Californian ULEV regulations also attained great importance for Europe. At that time, the research work carried out focussed mainly on thermal machines (Prof. Dr. Walter Janach). As a result of the increased use of electrical drive technology and power electronics as well as the use of supercapacitors, the activities were transferred to the electrical engineering department and lead to the new research institution CC IIEE. So far, the TOHYCO-Rider, a hybrid bus with supercapacitors and contactless fast charging, had been the most famous project.
Our focus today is on "Living & Mobility", that means research projects between buildings and mobility which are treated in three main areas:
- Efficient Lights & Devices
- Integral Drives & Storages
- Decentral Power Supply
In this areas a motivated team, together with bachelor and master students, works e.g. on questions of biodynamic lighting or the reduction of stand-by losses, on energy storages and their integrated applications in the fields of building, industry and mobility, which includes also the engineering of high efficient electrical motors, as well as on the playing together of decentral power supplies with energy consumers in buildings.
For us a very important issue is the systemic and intelligent combination of different technologies. So we are studying an universal energy storage SAM (Super Accumulator Module), we are looking for an optimal complete drive-chain, and are working on the V2G concept, that is to say the interaction of electrical vehicles with the superior energy supply (production and distribution).
Due to our very good infrastructure, we are able to offer "fast-prototyping" for single piece- and prototype-production.
Our homepage will give you more background information, publications and media about all the projects of the CC IIEE.
I am glad to be at your disposal for further information and thank you for your kind attention.
