General information
Residence permit
In order to start your course with us you will need a residence permit, which will be applied for on your behalf by the Lucerne School of Music at the Immigration Department of the Canton of Lucerne. This department requires you to bring written evidence of your ability to finance your studies and your living costs while you are in Switzerland.
Student jobs
Students from abroad may be permitted to take up work alongside their studies. Before taking up a job, the employer must apply to the Cantonal Labour Office in Lucerne for a work permit for you. Please take care to ensure that the course of study is always the main reason for your being in the country. In addition, working alongside the degree course must be authorized in writing by the Rectorate. Working during your degree course must not be allowed to jeopardize your success in passing your final exams or cause you to extend your period of study.
